Welcome to Yes Go Green!

We are here to help friends and loved ones discover how simple it is to save the planet, go green, toxic awareness, and alternatives one step at a time. Yes We are making a difference one step at a time!

Global Warming

All over America people are launching an exciting grassroots movement to help solve one of our country's most pressing problems: global warming. Local leaders are moving forward with innovative energy solutions that cut our dependence on oil, benefit public health and save taxpayer dollars. These leaders are on the way toward a safer and more secure future.

"The truth is we all must begin reducing global warming, and fortunately there is much to do. Read More

 Recycling

Recycling is the reprocessing of materials into new products. Recycling generally prevents the waste of potentially useful materials, reduces the consumption of raw materials and reduces energy usage, and hence greenhouse gas emissions, compared to virgin production. Recycling is a key concept of modern waste management and is the third component of the waste hierarchy.

Recyclable materials, may originate from a wide range of sources including the home and industry. They include glass, paper, aluminium, asphalt, iron, textiles and plastics. Biodegradable waste, such as food waste or garden waste, is also recyclable with the assistance of micro-organisms through composting or anaerobic digestion.

Stop Global Warming at Home

Control your climate: Conserve energy by adjusting the thermostat two degrees colder in the winter and two degrees warmer in the summer, and also conserve energy by making sure your air filters are clean. You'll save money on your energy bill - not to mention 2000 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions every year. Now that's conservation.

Don't waste the water: Stopping leaky faucets isn't the only thing you can do to go green and stop global warming. Conserve water by taking shorter showers, washing your clothes in cold water, investing in a low-flow shower head, or only running your dishwasher with a full load. Or conserve water by putting a water bottle filled with water or pennies in the tank of your toilet. It's a simple way to conserve one or two gallons of water per flush.

Look on the bright side: Stop global warming by making the energy switch from standard light bulbs to compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs. They conserve a lot more energy and last ten times longer than regular light bulbs. Plus, switching to compact flourescent light bulbs means every year you'll spare the atmosphere 150 pounds of carbon dioxide emissions

Stop Global Warming on the Road

Watch what you drive: It’s simple – stop driving your car so much. Take public transportation or a bike when you can. Another great way to go green is to buy a hybrid car. Can’t afford a hybrid car yet? Any car with good gas mileage will improve fuel efficiency and cut back on carbon dioxide emissions.

Save some fuel: Instead of letting your engine idle in drive-thrus, take a minute to park and go inside to improve fuel efficiency and cut down on emissions. Also, conserve gas (and stop global warming) in other ways: use cruise control on the highway for better gas mileage and fuel efficiency, avoid rapid breaking and acceleration, and seek out gas stations that offer ethanol-blend fuel.

Get a tune-up: If one percent of car owners would go green by getting regular tune-ups, we’d keep a billion pounds of carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere. As a tuned-up driver, you’ll improve your fuel efficiency, easing the pain when you pay at the pump. Also, check your tires weekly to make sure they’re filled, and remember to inspect your air filter to make sure it’s clean.

Stop Global Warming at Work

Digitize: Avoid wasting paper by printing out digital files, because all that extra paper waste contributes to global warming. Reduce paper waste and read them on your computer instead. If you do fire up the printer, change its settings to reduce paper waste. Using both sides of the paper cuts your paper waste in half. Also, switch to paying your bills online to save both postage and the environment.

Unplug it: Just flipping the switch on an appliance doesn’t stop the energy flow. If it’s too much hassle to unplug things individually, try using power strips. Also, while screensavers might save your screen’s picture, they don’t save energy. To conserve just a little bit more, puting your computer to sleep instead saves energy - or try turning off your monitor when you’re not using the screen.

Recycle your waste: Cut back on the company trash pile by encouraging recycling at work, including recycling cans and containers in the break room. Bring reusable plates and silverware to the office, and if you eat lunch with your colleagues, share a group order to cut down on multiple containers - and recycle the containers when you're done. Also, stop shelling out bottles of water at meetings; go green by trying pitchers of filtered tap water instead.
